catch up & altered frock experiment

Hope you all had a lovely day on Thursday. Bit late I know but then I'm rarely on time with this blog of mine!!  :))
The girls and I had our usual creative crafty day but I thought it would be nice to make them all a little surprise in the way of these mixed media hearts. I was very pleased with how they came out. Also made some tasty butterfly chocolate cupcakes with some rose water flavoured cream and a strawberry to top each. Thanks so much for a lovely morning Joolz, Ro, Laura, Lisa and Myrene.

and remember that little dormouse I showed a pic of in my previous post that wasn't quite finished? Well this is the end result, and isn't he the sweetest li'l guy? Even if I do say so myself!  :)
He now lives with Laura coz he was my birthday gift to her.

ALTERED FROCK EXPERIMENT

I just wanted to whip up something comfy and cool for myself really quickly and this is what I came up with. Not perfect but filled the bill!

Took a stretch top and cut off the length that I wanted for the bodice. (A nice piece of stretch lace that can be used in another altered piece some time in the future.)

Then turned it around so that the ties at the back will now be the front neckline and sewed it to a lovely piece of sunflower fabric.

I stretched the bodice as I sewed so as to get the slightly gathered look you see above.
I forgot to take a shot of the next step......when I tried the dress on, the skirt was a bit snug so I cut up the length of the skirt on both sides and added an inverted V shaped insert in a complimentary colour and that did the trick. You can see them in the pic below.

Finished! and it's perfect for a comfy slouch around the house.

Talk about slouching..........I'm off.

Ciao for now. Happy weekend to you all!   ♥♥♥

  8. Around the house? I would wear that dress anywhere. I love gray with bright colors! Is it as comfortable as it looks?

You should post this on Kollabora, the crafting community I'm part of—we're always impressed with successful refashions!
