critters and things....

What have I been up to since November....quite a bit really but these are just a few pics of some of those bits.

I've taken a liking to making wee little critters lately. Awwww. Sweet aren't they?
The bunny is made from a sweet pattern designed by a good friend of mine Ro from Luvly Bears. He sits around 5" to the top of his head and I used shaggy chenille and stained it with Parisian Essence......as you do!   :)
Little ellie is a design by Gingermelon and is handsewn! Me, hand sewing!!! Wonders will never cease!   :)
and the chickadee is a The Cheswick Company design. They were all a lot of fun to make and I'm sure I'll be making more.

But this little one is my own design and after three tries I got the pattern right. He/she is my version of a dormouse, but it's not quite finished yet. I need to add a tail, whiskers, nose and little paws and feets!
I've fallen in love with these little creatures and want to make them in different poses. Did you know that they hibernate for up to 6months of the year, and they usually only have one litter a year and most of the images I found of them asleep they were on their backs, little paws and feets curled inward and their bushy tails right up over their belly, face and top of head!
So, so sweet I tells ya!

I got the dh to put some shelves up just inside the studio door for some of my lovelies. They're actually the drawers from a vintage silky oak low-boy that we got from my mother. Clever huh?
We took out the drawers to make space to hang shirts.

Have also been buying bargains and am linking this up with Thrift-a-long over at divajools.

A definite bargain at $20 from the local Life Line. Solid silky oak, we think, and in the style of one of those old travelling trunks? Never seen one like it before and just not sure where to put it, or what to use it for or even if to keep.

These were a nice buy from ebay and they came in that lovely old tin.

Couldn't resist these when I saw them on Etsy! I wanted some lovely soap dishes and haven't found anything that I liked........you know what it's like.   :D
Call me crazy but I'm so loving the chipped, stained and vintage-ness of them. So much history and character!
The back one came intact and I'm using it, but the front one which is a really pale and really lovely blue didn't come with it's original base(which I knew about) so I'm on the lookout for a bottom to match.

I also decided it was time for a new look....you may have noticed.  :)
It's a work in progress so I hope it looks pleasing to the eye.
