Day 2 of my Queenstown NZ trip - Arrowtown

As we drove into Arrowtown, which is about a 20 min drive NE of Queenstown, this church was the first stop.

St. Patrick's Catholic Church Arrowtown
The beauty of this gorgeous stone church was definitely enough to want us to stop, but then we noticed other things to interest us.

So very pretty and they look as though they have been sprayed or spattered with a beautifully delicate shade of pink. Arrowtown is known for it's abundance of  gorgeous (I use that adjective soooo much I know, but it truly describes perfectly) roses, and in fact rose tours are held for visitors to the town. I'll put up a short tour for you in the next installment. Oh yes!! there are many more pics to come!!  :))))))

No idea what tree this is, but the brilliant colour of the berries was amazing.

Side view of the church with a sign featuring the role Mary MacKillop played in Arrowtown in 1897. More further down about that.
:)  Just love the look of these very lovely pine cones

As you can see by the board in the below pic Mary MacKillop lived here for a time.
A really sweet little cottage that has been kept in great condition all this time.

Click the pic so you can read it better.  :)

The little cottage had a sweet garden all around it and this very pretty apricot rose was part of it.

You know I found it so strange, but in a good way, that just about every direction I looked while in New Zealand, I could see mountains/hills/ranges! As you can see in a few of the pics above. Given that the area I live in here is quite flat all round, they were truly amazing to look at.

Ok that's it for today, but next time I'll show you all the floral beauty of Arrowtown. Mostly roses.

  4. Lovely pics Pam. Did you know that those roses are pure white in summer and as the weather cools leading up to winter they get pink speckles. True story
