My Creative Space is Magical

I'm killing two birds with one stone here (there must be a better way to say that??).
My Creative Space ........

evolved into ..........

my entry for April's challenge on Mind Wide Open. :)

The "must use" was the turquoise blue background, which has the image of a sweet little fairy in it. I'm not a blue person as such, but the shade of this blue is quite pretty, and as she seems to be sitting in water with something in her hands, my mind's eye saw shells and an underwater type scene. The prompt word Magical helped that vision.

I started with three layers...brown felt, the blue background and a pale limey green netting. I free-sewed around the edges to make a seaweed effect, in different coloured cottons then roughly cut out the part of the netting that revealed the fairy making the edge look chopped. Then I added thick strands of embroidery threads throughout the seaweed, and sewed on beads and tiny shells. The fairy holds a gold starfish in her hands. I've also glittered up her wings.

To see other Creative Spaces pop over to Kootoyoo where there's a list of other very creative peeps.

The challenge entries for Mind Wide Open, go up on the 10th(U.S. time) when you can go have a look at the beautiful work and maybe have a vote for the one you think the best.

Ciao for now!

  2. oh, that is very lovely. I agree though, we really need to come up with an alternative phrase-holding 2 birds with one hand? I don't know but what a lovely blog you have.

  4. It's beautiful! It reminds me of the background to a little scrolled poem my Aunt gave me a long time ago. The colours are lovely.
