It's back!

The meme thingy, My Place & Yours is back with a new host ~ Vic at Punky & Me!
Yay and congrats to you Vic. I'm sure you'll do a spiffing job.
So....the theme for this week is "What I'm Reading".
Vic said:
What are you reading right now? Is it a book? A magazine? A blog? What do you wish you were reading? Where do you wish you were reading it? Is it a library book? Was it a gift? Are you enjoying it or persevering?

Your take on this theme can be whatever you want it to be, and I want to see it! You can take a quickie photo without getting up, you can draw a picture (…that gives me an idea… I’d love to see a diorama. Go on. Make a diorama!), you can trek to the library and take covert snaps, whatever, wherever, you’ve got time!

Right at this moment I'm getting a LOT of mileage out of these two mags below.
Anything published by Stampington is just brilliant in my little world! Oh my but these make my heart sing, as I'm so fond of saying. Only problem is the cost. It certainly adds up, but still it doesn't stop me buying them! :)

The book below is by the author of Chocolat (loved the movie and book) and Five Quarters of the Orange (don't remember a lot about this one, but I did enjoy the read).
I haven't actually started this yet, apart from the little bit inside the cover. Joolz and I bought it between us last year some time, and now that she's done with it, it's my turn.
I used to read quite a LOT, but decided one day, some years back, that I needed to stop reading for a while, cos when I started reading a good book there was no way I would put it down, and consequently nothing else got done!! So for the sake of the housework (yeah sure!) and my craft, it was goodbye to books (well big ones anyhoo) for a while until I could learn to discipline myself a tad! :)
When Joolz handed this book over to me, I thought I'd give it a go and see how much of a good girl I can be. Love, love the cover! So "me" don't you think? lolol. All that mixed media, so to speak. That's a good start, yes?
Stay tuned! Hope to start it in the next couple of days.

  2. I love love that cover too, gorgeous!

I know what you mean about wanting to get through a good book and things like housework suffering... why is it that housework is always the first to go...?!

Thanks for playing, this is fun!

  3. Ahhh Pam you're a girl after my own heart ... I adore and devour Stampington mags. I'm restrained and only read print when I go to bed at night. Oh ... welllll, OK I have been known to go to bed for an hour or so during the day when a mag arrives ;) Your work is beautiful!

  4. Craft mags are an investment Pam, remember that. I have actually read Coastliners and from memory it was a reasonably good book. Not something I usually pick up but everynow and then I will read something different. I highly recommend reading before housework! It will still be there when the book is finished.

  5. There's nothing better than getting into a book and loving it so much that you can't put it down. But you're right, there's all this other stuff that has to be taken care of too. I hope you enjoy this book.

  6. I am Pam's neglected husband, I am a magazine widower. The word housework is considered an obscenity at our place. The most commonly heard expression here is "hey there's a new mag out." I must admit that she does get a lot of pleasure from her mags. As she hates to part with any of them, and as the quantity grows, I may have to consider street names for the areas between. I do envy her enjoyment from the mags and her craft work both of which she does with heart and soul. Now I await the reaction when she sees this.

  7. Hi Pam, I have always been a bookworm. I have this book in my 'must read one day' pile (or should that be warehouse?) Today I started reading Two for the Road by Amanda Hampson. Amanda also wrote The Olive Sisters which I read a couple of years ago and loved. I'll now put Coastliners closer to the top of the list! Jenny

  9. I roared with laughter when I read the comments......... Your other half has obviously got far too much time on his hands... give him a feather duster!

Hope the book is a good read. "Chocolat" is one of my all time favourite films.

Incidentally, whilst playing "catchup" on your blog, I saw the picture of your white cat. Isn't that just the most unusual way of sprawling out? Wonderful. :O))))))

  12. Thanks for the tip about those mags. Maybe I should follow your lead and stop reading for a while. If I get going on a good book I have been known not to surface until it's finished. Thanks for sharing your reads
