My Place & Yours:That's nyoice, that's different, that's unewesyewl!

I'm running sooo late with the meme this week! Apart from having to get my pooter fixed, this week has been a little difficult for me. But I'm here now!
The meme theme Queen this week is Toni from over at Little Suitcase, and you can see her theme is a bit different. I found it a tad difficult to work out what to put up, but after reading what she said about it,
Does your home have a quirky feature or several? Something you throw a strategically placed coat over if people are visiting or avoid telling the real estate agent about? You might be very proud of your house flaw.

I finally made a decision to go with the tiles on the bathroom wall. Don't know about being proud of the flaw, but I definitely try to hide them from visitors.......in fact from myself usually!! :) The shower curtain is always pulled across to hide them. Can't imagine why on earth I'm showing them here on International Blogland!! Eeek! They were put in long before we bought the house. I'm guessing they are a 70's or 80's mistake. :)
But I suppose it's all about participating and sharing, and I'm sure you won't gasp too loudly. (I wonder if there is an emoticon with tongue in cheek that I could have put here? Must investigate.)
I know there are worse things out there in many others' houses and I am grateful for our house and the fact that we own it, but it's just one of those things that I've never liked. You know what I mean, right? Just some little thing about it, just not to your taste etc.

One day we might actually get them replaced or maybe paint over them. I believe you can get just the right type of paint for bathroom tiles. Don't stare at them too long though cos you might go cross-eyed!

A close-up, and you know I've done a bit of "looking" at them over the years, and I swear there aren't two with the same pattern!! lol. Amazing. But there are some pretty odd and sus shapes in there, I can tell you!

Then to add insult to injury, they were put in as a splashback right around the three walls of the kitchen! Good thing the kitchen is smaller than a galley on a boat.......well almost!
You can see them peeking from behind the taps, where I've peeled the wallpaper trim back. I put this on there years ago in a naive attempt to hide them, but of course the constant wet from the taps finally got to it and I thought it would look better without it in that small area.

So...definitely not Nyoice, maybe a bit Different and a bit more Unewesyewl!

  2. Glad I am not the only one that looks for pattern repeat in fabrics and tiles..................... they give a really 3D effect, almost like basket weave, don't they? Wondered what you had been up to, now I know it was computer problems...... Pleased to read that they are sorted.

  3. hmmm.... I am trying to decide how good or bad the tiles are!!! hahahaha... Maybe the previous owners were blind & had to feel their way around the bathroom & used the tiles as a guide! That's the only possible reason I can give for putting them in! No they aren't really attractive, definitely unusual!

Thanks so much for leaving a comment. I read every one of them, and will either respond with a return email or leave a comment here or at your blog, if you have one.
